Stanford’s Multimodal AI Model Advances Personalized Cancer Care

Human pathologists remain the gold standard due to their ability to integrate diverse patient data, unlike traditional AI. Stanford researchers developed MUSK, an AI model that combines clinical notes and images to predict patient outcomes and treatment responses. MUSK utilizes a massive dataset of unlabeled and unpaired image-text data, significantly improving prediction accuracy compared to existing models. Initial tests show MUSK's promise in predicting cancer treatment responses and prognosis across various cancer types.
