Exploring the Intersection of Artificial Intelligence and Healthcare Innovation
Opinion AI:
OpenAI, Microsoft, Meta and Anthropic have all recently announced plans to build AI agents that can execute tasks for humans autonomously on their behalf. To do this effectively, the systems must be able to perform increasingly complex actions, using reasoning and planning. How to evaluate these complex models? This article argues the need for new benchmarks.

Considerations for addressing bias in artificial intelligence for health equity
The importance of health equity in healthcare and how AI/ML technologies can both help and potentially worsen existing disparities. The authors propose an expanded Total Product Lifecycle framework for healthcare AI/ML to identify, measure, and reduce unwanted bias at each development stage. Their goal is to educate stakeholders about AI bias in healthcare, foster discussion, and ultimately improve health outcomes for everyone.
Stanford’s Multimodal AI Model Advances Personalized Cancer Care
Human pathologists remain the gold standard due to their ability to integrate diverse patient data, unlike traditional AI. Stanford researchers developed MUSK, an AI model that combines clinical notes and images to predict patient outcomes and treatment responses. MUSK utilizes a massive dataset of unlabeled and unpaired image-text data, significantly improving prediction accuracy compared to existing models. Initial tests show MUSK's promise in predicting cancer treatment responses and prognosis across various cancer types.
Marimo as a notebook: It can also be re-used as a normal Python script. This is hugely beneficial if you want to have both a "view" and a "batch job" implemented in the same file. Curious?
Meta's Community Notes to Use Open-Source Tech from X
Meta's forthcoming Community Notes feature will employ the same open-source algorithm as X's Community Notes, though Meta said in a blog post that it would adapt the algorithm for its platforms over time. Community Notes, a crowdsourced content moderation tool that will replace third-party fact-checking, uses contributors to provide extra context on content posted to Meta's platforms. Around 200,000 people already have applied to become contributors.
